    Overall, the performance of steel exports in August exceeded market expectations. Against the background of rising anti-dumping news, significant rise in geopolitical uncertainty, and heightened expectations of anti-globalization, the outstanding export performance in August may be related to the “rush for exports.” Behavior-related, that is, in the quarter after the tariff threat was implemented and in the quarter before the tariff measures took effect, exports increased significantly, showing super-seasonal characteristics.     Affected by the decline in futures and raw materials, steel export prices fell, including hot-rolled coil and medium plate fell by $19 / ton and $15 / ton, respectively. Rebar and cold-rolled coil were reduced by $2 / ton and $6 / ton, respectively.

     

    In terms of international prices, the price of hot coil imported from the EU factory and Southeast Asia fell significantly, at about 15-18 US dollars/ton, and the price of rebar imported from Hong Kong, China also fell, but the price of scrap steel and rebar imported from Turkey was basically stable, and the price of cold rolled coil exported from CIS also remained stable.
