Wedge Anchor Structure & Fastening Principle

The wedge-shaped anchor bolt consists of a screw and a wedge-shaped sleeve (or expansion piece). During installation, the wedge-shaped structure is used to expand the sleeve by knocking or tightening the nut, and is tightly engaged with hard substrates such as concrete and masonry to form a mechanical lock. It has strong pull-out and shear resistance, making it difficult to loosen after tightening.

Calculation Formula of Stainless Steel Anchor Bolt

Total weight = bolt weight + nut weight + washer weight + other component weights.

 

Using 304 stainless steel, a hexagonal nut, and a standard flat washer as an example:

• Bolt weight = π × (nominal diameter/2)² × total bolt length × 7.93 g/cm³.

 

• Nut weight = (external volume – internal volume) × ρ = [(2.6 × Flat width of nut² × Thickness) / 1000 – π × (nominal diameter/2)² × Thickness / 1000] × 7.93 g/cm³.

 

• Standard flat washer weight = [π × (washer outer diameter (mm)² – washer inner diameter (mm)²) / 4 × washer thickness] × 7.93 g/cm³ / 1000.
