The temper designation indicates its hardness and performance level, and is classified into the H series (strain-hardened), the T series (heat-treated), and the O series (annealed/soft state).

1. O Series: Annealed State

Possesses the softest texture and best ductility, making it suitable for forming operations such as deep drawing and large-angle bending.

2. H Series: Work-Hardened State

  • H14: Half-hard state; the most commonly used general-purpose specification, offering a balanced combination of strength and softness.
  • H16: 3/4-hard state; features higher strength while still retaining a certain degree of bendability.
  • H18: Full-hard state; possesses the highest strength with virtually no ductility, making it suitable for high-rigidity parts that do not require bending.
  • H22: Partially annealed after work hardening; equivalent to the 1/4-hard level, offering superior ductility compared to other H-series tempers of similar hardness.
