What is cold drawn steel wire?

It specifically refers to steel wire made by cold drawing process, which is a production method that can be used to cold draw galvanized wire, cold draw low carbon steel wire, cold draw stainless steel wire, cold draw aluminum alloy wire, etc. Its production process is to draw the hot rolled wire through a die at room temperature to reduce its diameter and increase its length, while improving the toughness, precision, durability, strength, and surface finish of the material.

1. Selection of raw materials: choose high quality hot rolled coils to ensure that the chemical composition and mechanical properties are up to standard.

2. Pickling: Remove the surface oxidized skin to improve the drawing effect.

3. Phosphating/Soaping: to reduce the friction of drawing and prevent mold wear.

4. Cold Drawing: through multiple drawing, gradually reduce the diameter of the wire.

5. Annealing: Eliminate work hardening and adjust material properties (optional).
