Types of steel sheet piles
Steel sheet piles are mainly divided into the following types according to their cross-sectional shapes:
U type sheet pile
Also known as Larsen steel sheet pile, its cross-sectional shape is “U” shaped, consisting of a longitudinal thin plate and two parallel edge plates.
It has a wide range of specifications and models, a stable cross-sectional shape, is not easy to deform, has a strong bearing capacity, can withstand large horizontal and vertical loads, and is suitable for deep foundation pit projects and river cofferdams.
Z type steel sheet pile
Its cross-sectional shape is “Z”, consisting of two parallel thin plates and a longitudinal connecting thin plate. Z-type steel sheet piles can be spliced and extended, and are suitable for projects that require a longer length.
It has a compact structure, good water tightness, and impermeability, and is more prominent in bending resistance and bearing capacity. It is suitable for projects with large excavation depths, hard soil layers, or that need to withstand large water pressure.

H type steel sheet pile
The steel plate rolled into an H shape is used as a support structure, and the construction speed is fast in foundation pit excavation, trench excavation, and bridge and culvert excavation.
However, it requires the use of larger pile driving equipment, vibrating hammers, etc., and the construction cost is high. Its special shape, weak lateral stiffness, and easy to produce construction bending during piling.
Tubular steel sheet pile
Relatively rare, its cross section is circular, and it is made of a thick-walled cylindrical thin plate. It has good compressive resistance and bearing capacity, and its performance is better than other types on some occasions.
AS type steel sheet pile
It is widely used in Europe and the United States, with a specific cross-sectional shape and installation method, suitable for special projects. The production, processing and installation processes of Z-type and AS-type steel sheet piles are relatively complicated.
