Cable diameter: Common ones are 1/8 inch (about 3.2 mm), 3/16 inch (about 4.8 mm), 1/4 inch (about 6.4 mm), 5/16 inch (about 7.94mm), 3/8 inch (about 9.53mm)
Support structure: It can be wood, metal, or other materials. Stainless steel is the most commonly used material because it matches the cable material and has a consistent visual effect.
Installation spacing: The spacing between cables is usually 3 inches (about 7.6 cm) or less to prevent children or pets from passing through.

Double End Post Construction
Use 2″x1″x.120″ or 3″x1″x.120″ structural steel posts with stainless steel spacers.
Use 2″x1″ or 3″x1″ top and bottom rails and intermediate posts (if applicable).
2″X 2″X 1/4″ Wall Structural Steel End Post Construction
Use 2″x1″ top and bottom cross members (if applicable).
Even if the end posts are 2″x2″x.250″, the intermediate posts can be 2″x1″x.120″ to minimize the bulkiness of the frame.
Tube and Round Steel Pipe Posts
Use 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ or 2″ standard pipe.
You need at least Schedule 80 pipes for your end posts.

Coated Cables
PVC coatings have UV inhibitors, and if exposed to sunlight for a long time, they will gradually fade, harden, crack, and peel, which is not conducive to cleaning. Therefore, for outdoor environments, stainless steel cables are smooth to the touch, will not wear, and can be used in outdoor environments without coating.
If you use it indoors and have a limited budget, you can consider coated cables.

For cable railings, we recommend 1×19 structure, 316 stainless steel strand (cable), because you need the strongest possible cable with low elongation. 7×7 or 7×19 structure is less rigid than 1×19, and has high elongation, and the breaking strength is also lower than 1×19 structure.
