The barb spacing refers to the distance between two adjacent barbs (in inches). Different barb spacings offer different levels of protection.
- 3-inch: Dense barb distribution, strong deterrent effect, high protection; recommended for use in prisons, military areas, and border regions.
- 4-inch: Moderate density, balancing protection and cost. Suitable for medium protection, such as the tops of factory fences and residential walls.
- 5-inch: Sparser barb distribution, lower cost. Used for warning purposes, such as in gardens, orchards, and botanical gardens.

Weight = Inner wire weight + Outer PVC coating weight.
Actual weight can be found in the table below. The thicker the core wire, the lower the BWG value, and the denser the barb spacing, the greater the weight per roll. The PVC coating adds approximately 10%-15% to the weight.

What is BWG (Birmingham Gauge)?
BWG (Birmingham Wire Gauge) is an internationally recognized standard for measuring wire diameter. The smaller the number, the thicker the wire (e.g., “12 BWG” wire is thicker than “14 BWG”).
In PVC-coated barbed wire, BWG is usually labeled as “core wire diameter × barbed wire diameter” (e.g., 12×14 BWG):
- The first value: the diameter of the core wire (determines the overall strength of the barbed wire);
- The second value: the diameter of the barbed wire (determines the sharpness and durability of the barbs).
Example: 12×14 BWG means “the core wire is 12 BWG gauge, and the barbed wire is 14 BWG gauge.”

Carbon steel wire rod → drawn to low carbon steel wire → hot-dip galvanizing (optional) → rust removal and cleaning → PVC powder coating → high-temperature preheating → high-pressure coating → PLC-automated double-strand twisting → air cooling and water cooling → finished product winding.
