What is a palisade fencing?

The silver or green fences with pointed tips around industrial, commercial, and government environments are called picket fences. The base material is cold-rolled steel, which can be galvanized or powder-coated to form the required color. It can blend harmoniously with the environment and has high rigidity and stability. It requires almost no maintenance and is often used outdoors.

Uses

Steel palisade fencing is mainly used in places where safe isolation is required. Most of them are colorful, and common examples are as follows:

Production process

The fence is manufactured using a cold rolling process, which makes the steel lighter than other metals, but does not affect its strength. Cold rolling involves passing the steel through a number of rollers at room temperature, gradually deforming it into shape, so the process does not require heating. The steel is then continuously hot-dip galvanized to prevent the steel fence from rusting, and a polyester powder coating can be added to increase the resilience of the steel fence and make it look brighter.

Type and specification

1. Type

According to the shape of the cross section, Palisade fencing is divided into “D” type fence and “W” type fence.

1). “D” type fence: Thickness includes 3mm (general type), 3.5mm (safety type), and 4mm (special type). Top types include square top, three-pointed top, single-pointed top, round top and rounded top.

2). “W” type fence: Thickness includes 2mm (general type), 2.5mm (safety type), and 3mm (special type). The top type is similar to the “D” type fence. The middle part is thinner, the edges are thicker and curved inwards, and the “w” shape profile increases the difficulty of climbing

 

2. Specifications

Common Palisade fencing panels are 2.75m wide and the height ranges from 1.8m to 2.5m.

1). Palisade Security Fencing is supplied with triple-pointed steel pales as standard; however, we also offer single-pointed pales, plus round and notched pales. These steel Palisade pales are what make the steel palisade fence such a recognizable security fencing system.

2). Steel Palisade Fencing also features two steel rails—a top rail and a bottom rail—within its construction. The top Palisade Rail also has small barbs along the top, which helps deter intruders from climbing over the fencing structure.

Difference between Triple Pointed Palisade Pales, Single Pointed Palisade Pales, and Round & Notched Palisade Pales

The main difference between triple-pointed, single-pointed, and round & notched palisade pales is their pale shape. This design significantly influences the fence’s security level and aesthetic appeal.

1. Triple pointed pales: They are imposing and difficult to climb, providing the highest level of protection. The three sharp points are effective in deterring intruders. Nominal clearance is 3.25 inches.

2. Single pointed pales: Provide a balance between security and aesthetics. While still offering a deterrent effect, they are less visually imposing than triple pointed pales.

3. Round & notched pales: They are designed primarily for aesthetics, with security as a secondary consideration. They are often used in areas where a strong deterrent is not desired, such as schools or residential areas.

Don’t forget about anti-tamper fixings

Palisade fence panels also require anti-tamper fixings that are specifically designed for  Palisade Fencing. The bolts will provide a secure connection and will fit snugly into the bolt holes, and the top of the nut will break off. Therefore, once the fence is installed, the bolts cannot be tampered with or removed.
